A quick round up…

A few things happened this week that deserve a mention, but not quite a full blog post on their own.

First up is the news that Dassault Systèmes’ DraftSight has surpassed One million downloads. I use the software on a daily basis (along with various Autodesk and Intellicad products) and I can see why it has been a success. Simply put, using Draftsight gives you a free and legal CAD system that is compatible with AutoCAD. It may not suit everyone, but for those who only require a 2D CAD package, it is well worth checking out.

Autodesk have been busy developing a new app for Android. This week saw the release of Inventor Publisher Viewer. The range of Autodesk apps on Android is growing slowly, but surely. Check out the video below

Google launched Google+ on a limited field trial. Just what it is exactly, I’m not sure. It is some form of Social Networking, as if we don’t have enough of them already!! Time will tell whether it will topple the mighty Facebook.

Dublin (the one famous Guinness, Molly Malone and U2) has declared tomorrow, June 30th, to be Social Media Day. This coincides with Dublin’s sister city, San Jose in California, doing the same. Some of you out there may not know, but Dublin is the European HQ of Facebook, Zynga, Google and Marketo.

Finally, on a much lighter note, I created a new blog to display my fantastic cartoons……OK, well maybe not fantastic, and some of you may not class them as cartoons, but, well feel free to check them out anyway. Many are not safe for work, most could be considered in bad taste and they are most definitely not PC! Have fun.
