De fella in de green and white…

You couldn’t write this, it is pure comedy gold…

To start with, St. Patricks Athletic don’t wear green and white, they wear Red and a bit of white…. He doesn’t agree with following the English Premier League, but follows Manchester United. Oh and he also follows Celtic in the Scottish Premier League, of course.

He does actually make a couple of good points though. The first being that we should support League of Ireland Football. I’m as guilty as the next man when it comes to showing a lack of support. I can count on one hand the amount of games I have been to. The other good point is that people here in Ireland will happily follow British football teams yet they will protest against the Queen of England coming to visit.

It reminds me of this picture taken of a protestor outside Croke Park when the English Rugby team came to play there back in 2007.

protest

Anyone spot the problem there?? Well, the protestor is wearing a Celtic football jersey and a Celtic tracksuit top. As I pointed out above, Celtic are a Scottish football team (that would be soccer to the Americans out there) and as we all know, Scotland is part of Great Britain and not part of Ireland.

Right so, that’s todays comedy/political/sports piece out of the way.
