Skype strike again!
I recently blogged about Skype and how they had no client for Android. No sooner had I posted than an Android version of the software arrived.
I tried it and it worked fine on my HTC Hero. I recently upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy S, a beautiful phone, far more responsive than my Hero.
I downloaded Skype again and to my horror, found that it does not work with the Galaxy S. It seems to install without issue, but will not allow a user to log on. This is a known bug, but Skype being Skype, don’t like to talk about bugs.
I downloaded Nimbuzz as an alternative to the Skype App. It worked well with my Skype Account, call quality was fine and the software was nice and easy to use. Unfortunately, like Fring before them, Nimbuzz have had to stop supporting Skype.
What I would like to know is how come both Fring and Nimbuzz have managed to create apps that function on the Galaxy S with Skype support and yet Skype can’t. All I want to do is use my Skype account on my phone, is that too much to ask?
OK, this is just getting freaky. No sooner do I blog again about Skype and the problems I have, then Skype go and release a new version!! Lets see how I get on with this one.
Still can't log on to Skype on the Samsung Galaxy S
